The United Nations announced the launch of UN Language Day in 2010. This initiative aims to to “celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six of its official working languages throughout the UN”. Among them, the Chinese Day is set on "Grain Rain", one of 24 solar terms in the lunar calendar. And it falls on 20th April this year, on which China Cultural Center Den Haag held two offline activities: a free demo lesson for learning Chinese and "An Artistic Dream of the Red Chamber" workshop for kids.
The Chinese Day is celebrated by the demo lesson of "New HSK Chinese Course for Adults + Chinese Course for Children" that will be offered by China Cultural Center Den Haag. Instructed by Ms. Lili Zhou, kids and adults were asked to join the lesson together, using their body as a memory carrier, imitating The horizontal and vertical strokes of Chinese characters.

In the following "An Artistic Dream of the Red Chamber" workshop for kids , Ms. Lin Yong, a Chinese painting artist living in the Netherlands, selected three scenes in "The Dream of the Red Chamber": "Xiangyun drunk in sleeping", "Baochai playing with butterflies" and "Daiyu in the Garden". Based on the black and white sketches, she selected over ten kinds of watercolor pen that are similar to Chinese ink, and instructed children on how to use these watercolor pens to colour up their own "The Dream of the Red Chamber" story.
