Today, the China Cultural Center in The Hague will introduce you to "Taijiquan".
Taijiquan is a traditional physical practice characterized by relaxed, circular movements that works in concert with breath regulation and the cultivation of a righteous and neutral mind. In December 2020, Taijiquan was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. This heritage item focuses on the cultivation of the mind and the adjustment of breathing, and through practice, it achieves the purpose of cultivating the body and strengthening the body. It originated in central China's Henan Province in the mid-17th century and has become widespread in other parts of the country. Influenced by Taoism, Confucianism and Chinese medical theory, several schools of Taijiquan have been developed.
