On June 30th , as a major closing event for “China Cultural Week”, China Cultural Center in the Hague invited Mrs. Zhang Die , the representative figure of the Chinese pop music in 1980s of China, now residing in the Netherlands, to hold a lecture named as “Heart Talk of Pipa- the Inheritance and Innovation of Chinese National Music” in the Center.

1

Zhang Die  graduated from Tianjin Conservatory of Music. Combined with her own performance experience, she succeeded in following a life journey of transiting from a Chinese pop singer in 1980s to an instrument player travelling to the Netherlands for study, and eventually managed to promote Chinese Pipa into European art classrooms.

During the lecture, Zhang Die  played the classical music of Pipa “A Moonlit Night on the Spring River”. All the audience applauded for her performance.

In the end, Zhang Die’s enthusiastic Pipa-electronic music, combined with her Dutch students’ Feitian dance, made the whole stage overwhelming.

Over 60 people attended the event. After the lecture, the audiences were reluctant to leave. As the Pipa event ended, the 10-day “Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Week” was also coming to an end. It was the first time that the Center held such event after the completions of its internal decoration. The event is regarded as a series of fantastic cultural events by both Chinese and Dutch local people.
